The Finnish Parliament has confirmed that a part of the temporary legislative changes made to unemployment security will remain in effect until the end of the year.

The Finnish parliament has approved an increase in the standard entitlement of earnings-related unemployment allowance as well as a shortening of the commuting requirement of mobility assistance. The amendments are temporary.

New tax cards and taxation of earnings-related daily allowance
New salary tax cards, that come into force in the beginning of February, will be automatically transferred to the KOKO fund. We recommend that you provide us with a revised tax card for the purpose of the benefit.
Here’s how the incomes register will affect applying for earnings-related unemployment allowance
The KOKO fund will receive salary information from the incomes register as of 1 January 2020. Salary information is used to calculate the amount of earnings-related unemployment allowance and to examine the right to daily allowance.
Increases in earnings-related unemployment allowance
With the general increase and index increment, the amount of the basic unemployment allowance rises to EUR 33.66 / day in 2020. For earnings-related unemployment allowance, the amount of the increase depends partly on your salary.
The cuts of unemployment security in accordance with the Activation Model are being dropped
The Parliament has approved amendments to the Unemployment Security Act to repeal the Activation Model on 11 December 2019.
