General social security benefit to replace Kela-paid unemployment benefits in May 2026
The general social security benefit is paid to an unemployed jobseeker who is not entitled to earnings-related unemployment allowance or who has already received the maximum term of earnings-related unemployment allowance.
Changes to suspension periods enter into force on 1.3.2026
The changes apply to situations where a suspension period is imposed as a result of non-compliance in the context of job-seeking and employment services. The suspension periods pertaining to resignations are not changing.
