You may receive an earnings-related daily allowance from the KOKO unemployment fund while you are temporarily laid off. You are eligible for a daily allowance if your working hours have been shortened and a deduction corresponding to the temporary layoff has been made from your wages.
Because temporary layoffs are reviewed on a calendar week basis, you must submit an application to KOKO for the daily allowance for each full calendar week. If you apply for the daily allowance for a calendar month, include information for the full calendar week for the last week in the month (Monday to Sunday).
The various types of temporary layoff are:
- Full-time temporary layoff: The temporary layoff lasts for at least 1 calendar week with no work at all.
- Shortened weekly working hours: There are full working days and full temporary layoff days during the calendar week.
- Shortened daily working hours: There are days during the calendar week in which working hours are shortened.
For the duration of your temporary layoff, your situation as regards payment of your daily allowance is reviewed 1 calendar week at a time. The review is performed with regard to the actual situation with your temporary layoff.
