Due to the legislative amendment, child increments will no longer be paid for unemployment or lay-off days as of 1 April 2024. Until the end of March, the amount of the child increment is EUR 130–240 per month, depending on the number of children.
Child increment per day in 2023 | Child increment per day 1 January to 31 March 2024 | Child increment from 1 April 2024 | |
1 child | EUR 7.01 | EUR 5.84 | not paid |
2 children | EUR 10.29 | EUR 8.57 | not paid |
3 children or more | EUR 13.26 | EUR 11.05 | not paid |
Before the payment of child increments ends, the amount of the child increments decreased at the beginning of 2024.
In 2023, an additional and non-index-based 20% increase was made to the child increment to unemployment security, which was in force until the end of 2023. As a result, the level of the child increment was lowered on 1 January 2024.
The decrease in the amounts has meant a drop of EUR 25–48 per month in the child increment for the recipient of daily allowance, depending on the number of children. At the beginning of the year, the usual index increase for the child increment was also not made.
