Completing studies

An earnings-related daily allowance may be paid once you have completed your studies and you have fulfilled the membership and employment condition.

The employment condition must be fulfilled within a review period of 28 months. However, full-time studies extend the review period. The review period can be extended to a maximum total length of 9 years and 4 months. Part-time studies do not extend the review period.

Kela’s student financial aid will not be granted concurrently with a daily unemployment allowance. If you are granted student financial aid while receiving a daily allowance, the amount of the student financial aid will be deducted from your daily allowance.

Example

You complete your studies in the middle of the month. You have received student financial aid for the entire month, and you are also paid an earnings-related daily allowance for the last two days of the month. The deduction is calculated by dividing the amount of student financial aid by the number 21.5. The result is the amount that will be deducted from the daily allowance for each day of the overlap, in this case for two days.
