You may receive an earnings-related daily allowance from the KOKO unemployment fund while you are temporarily laid off. You are eligible for a daily allowance if your working hours have been shortened and a deduction corresponding to the temporary layoff has been made from your wages.
If you have been laid off for a shortened work week, submit an application for the daily allowance for full calendar weeks to KOKO. If you apply for the daily allowance for a calendar month, include information for the full calendar week for the last week in the month (Monday to Sunday).
The various types of temporary layoff are:
- Full-time temporary layoff: The temporary layoff lasts for at least 1 calendar week with no work at all.
- Shortened weekly working hours: There are full working days and full temporary layoff days during the calendar week.
- Shortened daily working hours: There are days during the calendar week in which working hours are shortened.
