Performance rewards, bonuses and other performance-based compensation

On this page, we explain how performance bonuses and other bonuses are taken into account when determining the pay on which the earnings-related unemployment allowance is based. You can find more information on the calculation of adjusted daily allowance under Adjusted daily allowance.

Performance rewards and bonuses that are earned over a period longer than one month are calculated based on when they are earned. If you are paid a performance reward, bonus or other performance-based compensation earned over a period longer than one month, the income is distributed and allocated to the calendar months during which the income or bonus was earned.

Performance rewards and bonuses earned over a period of up to one month will be calculated according to the payment date. Accordingly, the performance reward affects the salary on which the daily allowance is based, in the calendar month in which it was paid. The time at which the bonus is earned is irrelevant.

Performance rewards and bonuses are only taken into account to the extent that they relate to the period on which your allowance calculation is based: Period on which your allowance calculation is based
